Bright Spring Lippies.

All of the lippies in this series are recs from the ladies of the 12 Blueprints Facebook page, Christine Scaman, or my own swatches.

If you're a Bright Spring, most of these colors will work on your lips - and your cheeks too, if you use them as blush.

Some may be a touch too warm, too cool, too light or dark. This is normal, because the variation of human coloring within a season means that not all women in a season wear the same colors on the face equally well.

Some of these are discontinued. Check eBay.

Try before you buy, if possible.

I love Revlon Coral berry! It is definitely a favorite because it is more pink than orange and is just the right amount of bright for my skin. Highly recommend trying that one. I also have carnation and love it as well!! :)

Burt's Bees lip shimmer in Rhubarb was a good "dealbreaker" test lip for me (a BW): it was very good but clearly too warm. In my draping I turned out to be a BW who leans BSp, even though the BW lips I tried seemed waaay too extreme when I tried them on alone. :-) Recommend the Rhubarb for anyone trying to choose between Bright seasons.

MAC Speak Louder was the first Bright Spring makeup I ever tried, at the end of my PCA three years ago, and I was terrified of the color, but admit that it did in fact look good. I just bought some this very day, looked at the tube and was surprised how not bright it was. If I had looked at a lineup of lipsticks, I would not have pointed it out as BSp. And it looks glorious on me and I love it!

Revlon Blase Apricot was way too warm for me on its own (I'm learning that I lean slightly cooler in the season -- the learning doesn't end does it? Lol), but looks great over the top of a pink lipstick like Speak Louder. Which is funny, because my favorite bookish and one of my bosses are the exact same color, and I have no problems with them, just when it's on my face.

On the note of warmth, I tried samples of all of the 12 Blueprints BSp lipsticks (a year ago, so not sure of the current makeup) and they were all too crazy warm for me, which is probably why I gave up on lipsticks until now. What a journey! Definitely would not recommend trying to find your season based on makeup, as there seems to be a very narrow area of success in comparison to clothes.

Also, love putting a gold lip gloss over the top of a bright pink (like Bare Minerals Nude).

Just purchased MAC See Shear on your recommendation, and was surprised by that one, too! Also doesn't look like it would be a bright (I'm learning so much today!) And it looks freaking fantastic! I think it may actually be my My Lip But Better. I've been trying to figure out a natural BSp makeup look for forever, and you just filled in a huge part of that puzzle! Makeup for seasons is definitely a different game than clothing.

I tried Clarin's Fuschia Pink and Clinique's Plushest Punch on recommendation from Christine Scaman's website. They are both gorgeous!
I know, rite, Victoria, I find some oranges, well; too orange for me! But for sm reason Blase Apricot looks fine.
I am thinking of another recommendation from Christine; Marc Jacobs' So Sofia. But it looks kinda blinding for me now, Lol.
I managed to find another BSp from Revlon; it's Lip Lacquer stick in Flirtatious.

This looks very Bright Spring to me. On a computer screen, I cannot tell how warm/cool it is, so I could be wrong and it could be Bright Winter. But it seems neutral-warm to me and a touch less bright than bright winter. Looks like something I would pick.

I came here looking for Loreal recommendations and saw none. So I am going to fill in the gap. I'm a Bright Spring who tends to prefer a full face of makeup and a bright, bold lip.

For context, I have fair skin, bright blue eyes, and dark brown hair with auburn highlights - lots and lots of freckles. (I use Loreal True Match Foundation W2). I do not prefer the "nude/no makeup" look but I also do not enjoy the instagram no-flaw look. I wear makeup to enhance what I have and add a pop of color (or even to contrast with color I have on because an outfit combining hot pink, turquoise, yellow, and blood orange is not out of the question for me. So my lip choices might be a bit bold for bright springs that prefer a fully natural look.

So here we go:

The below are so perfect I don't even have to wear foundation:
- British Red (if I could only own one lipstick, this would be it. a very warm, casual red)

- Raspberry Rush (my favorite pink - bold and bright but not dark. Probably my second most reached for color)

- True Red (ideal for that "french" red lip look great for outfits that have a touch of cool colors in them)

- Le Rose Activist (I use this and True Red interchangeably despite this one being more muted and warmer)

- Fresh as a Rose (lighter pink - for a more "girly" feel)

Below are my nude colors. I usually prefer a brighter lip, but if I wanted to do a no make-up look these could be ideal.
- Cherry Wonderland - from Glow Paradise line (very orange but wears more like lip balm. This is good for a very casual, very warm no make-up look)

- Be Courageous - Brilliant Signature Shiny Lipstain (also orange, but a sticky gloss that lasts longer than a balm. Casual "I just have shiny lips" look)

- Nu Irreverent (basically the color of my lips, but would look best with foundation and mascara. It is for the flawless finish no-makup look, not a bare-face option.)

Below are additional favorites of mine I use all the time. Lovely colors that look harmonious when I'm made-up but look too dark or light when I am barefaced

- Le Coral Irreverant (LOVE this so much. It's too light for me to wear without makeup, but if I'm wearing bright springy colors, this lipstick, according to some friends, makes me "look like sunshine." After British Red and Raspberry Rush, this is my favorite.)

- Le Rouge Determination (red. tad dark. Best for formal outfits.)

- Maison Marais ( similar to the British Red, but it is just slightly darker and requires foundation to look perfect)

- Volcanic (bright ORANGE. Love this so much but it is a bit more orange than is natural for me with my peaches and cream skin. I think true springs could wear it better than bright springs. I wear it when my outfit is bright orange and casual and I have on foundation and Elf Guava Multistick for blush and eyeshadow.)

- Lovely Red (perfectly balanced red - warm and rich. Less bright than I like but actually a great color. It requires full make-up because of the texture more than the shade)

- Be Brilliant - another Brilliant Signature Shiny Lipstain. (Red and glossy and would look great with tinted sunscreen and jeans)
