Hi, Rachel & fellow blogreaders! After tumbling through the DYT & Kibbe system, I finally found this system & I find it is soooo much more accurate! I discovered I am RCG but with some Ethereal. I had an aha moment when I saw Rachel’s pin on the ECG board with her caption “with some Romantic”. https://pin.it/48lpJiH

Does anyone know of any RECG or REC celebrities (or stores)? Honestly I’d take suggestions of celebs with any 4 essences like RNGE, RNCG, RENC, ENCG, etc. Seeing Rihanna who’s RGNI and Lisa Bonet (who Rachel has mentioned is ENG with RD) have made me feel less alone in that & inspired me to commit to my FULL style ID with all that it represents. At this point, my biggest challenge is learning how to dress for all 4 without investing alot of work into it since I’m not a girlygirl to begin with. It’s especially hard to get all 4 essences in a casual outfit. I’m a low maintenance gal but I’m trying to give fashion a proper go. And I’m sure with practice it’ll become faster & more intuitive over time! If anything, it’s just so good to finally understand my ID. And to know the reasoning (style wise) behind why people perceive me the way that they do before I even say a word!

Glad to hear of others with 4 essences, as I am one (R-I-C-D), and I believe it's much more common than thought! :) In fact I don't know how anyone can fully fit into just 2 or 3 essences...I wish there were guides and/or pinterest boards for combinations of 4 essences, too, but I realize that's probably not doable (as there would be so many possible combinations). So we just have to make do with combining combinations of 2 and 3 of our respective essences ;)

(Sorry, can't help with stores or celebrities though :))

Hi Rachel. I tried the Style simulator, I tried things at home and it's like... I can wear anything. I am quite puzzled. You said it's often the case for gamines but is it also the case for other style essences ? I can do good in gamine but I don't think it's a primary essence for me. (I am really good in romantic ethereal and ingenue, and good in everything else)

I apologise if this sounds weird. English is not my mother language.

Do some types get asked for information more often? Strangers often come to me and ask: "do you know where the post office is, please?" or "could you tell me where the train station is?" I think I'm a natural ingenue with maybe some ethereal. Is the "information-giver face" an ingenue or a natural thing?

Can someone please, please, please tell me what ID this outfit is? I honestly don’t enjoy fashion, but I recognize that style IDs exist and I don’t want to spend money on items that make me look bad.

I'd say this outfit is mainly Natural Classic. If those shoes are included, they'd be Romantic Dramatic, but without the shoes, it's NC, to me. :)

Yeah, Natural and Classic for certain, and I'd say the glam shoes, feminine bracelet, and narrow, ankle-displaying fit of the jeans bring in Romantic too.

Jeans, color scheme, and overall casual vibe indicate Natural; glam accessories, peep-toe sandals, & strappy top with a bust-accentuating ruffle indicate Romantic; and I think the sheer, floaty fabric brings in some Ethereal too. Overall, looks like you might be one of the Romantic-Natural combos?

I am NI with RD, but I‘m having a very hard time finding any inspiration. I always knew my ID (and features) was unusual, and Rachel’s post about NDI being one of the more rare IDs helped me feel better about that...

The shirt looks dominantly Natural to me (it's quite boxy), but the lace with roses brings a small amount of R to it, I'd say.
As for the necklace, I think Ingenue, or possibly Romantic Ingenue. :)

I agree with Melina that the necklace is very Ingenue (feminine, dainty, and realistic), possibly with some Romantic, and that the shirt clearly has a lot of Natural to it. However, the lacy part reads very Ingenue to me because it emphasizes the yoke (apparently a very Ingenue-friendly part of the garment) and, given that it's not see-through, it also reads more modest and even "prim" to me than sexy. The roses in the lace are a bit large-scale for Ingenue, however--that could be more Natural coming in, or it could bring in a bit of Romantic, which I wouldn't completely rule out. Try comparing NI and RNI .

Thanks! That’s a good place for me to start. I’ll also keep an eye out for any RNs with curly hair so I can see what styles work on them too! Like you mentioned, I imagine the curls do support the R. I just need to find natural haircuts for curls (and ensure I keep the curls touchable/silky).

Hi all, I have two questions. Firstly, which style would you attribute the teardrop shape to? (Like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/752817403/star-of-bethlehem-encased-in-glass?ref=shop_home_recs_2&pro=1) I've been looking at necklaces and wondered if they were ethereal or ingenue. Secondly, Mother's Day is coming up and I want to get my Mom a nice necklace. The Style Identity Calculator pinned her as a natural gamine (which I completely agree with). I know that a natural gamine would probably look best with little to no jewelry, but does anyone have suggestions about what type of necklace I should look for?

A Natural Gamine would do well with necklaces in clean, simple styles. Unisex styles are good, or anything with simple, geometric lines. P.S. Regarding the teardrop shape, it often echoes the elegant s-curves associated with the Ethereal essence, although a more cute, round, cartoon-like teardrop could be more Ingenue. That teardrop necklace you linked looks like the perfect ENI necklace, with the sweet Ingenue flower inside and just a hint of a rustic Natural quality ;)

This tool and process are definitely helpful.

Boy have I been going on a 'journey' since finding this website! As so many good journeys go (as GK Chesterton beautifully pointed out) I seem to have both "come home again" and found myself in a new country, all at once.

Over time in the real world, I'd developed a rough approximation of clothing pieces that seemed to 'work' for me (usually gifted to me by family members who had a better sense of what flatters me than I did: though I at least had enough of an eye to keep wearing and wearing (and wearing) what worked).

With that experience in the back of my mind, when I found this website and scanned the descriptors for the 'pure' ID types for the first time, I thought to myself: "Huh, Natural Ethereal looks like me." But I wasn't sure (especially considering my recent exposure to the Kibbe 'Soft Dramatic' type which apparently I'd be shoehorned into by Kibbe enthusiasts on account of my bodily height and curves.) And I was particularly curious about whether, after a lifetime of fellow women calling me "adorable", I had Ingenue lines.

I finally bought Rachel's Style ID Calculator (trusting her face-based system more than others; it just makes sense! and the results seem to speak for themselves, as with Audrey's comparing-analysts video). And after experimenting with the calculator for a couple days, I seem to have worked through my exploratory and wishful thinking phases and come full circle back to my instinctive self-diagnosis of Ethereal Natural.

I also learned throughout the process that I also have enough Dramatic/Classic that I can pull off the 'Easygoing Art Critic' (Dramatic-Natural-Classic) for a more reserved look! I just end up looking slightly 'cute' and exceptionally soft in that context, whereas the Ethereal Natural repeats my own softness for a more relaxed total feel. To be honest, I'm still surprised not to technically have 'Ingenue' in my Style ID title, after a lifetime of hearing spontaneous remarks of "You're adorable!", but maybe I just have so many yang lines that despite giving off some kind of adorable vibe (however that's happening), the cutesy clothing lines of actual Ingenue types just contrast too much with the dominant yang features, and whatever's 'cute' about me will just have to always show up in CONTRAST to my clothes, rather than particularly reflected in them.

For anyone planning to try the calculator: It takes time. Be prepared to try out your photo/board assessments on different days -- and maybe with different photos. I felt most confident about my results when I arrived at them through using a collage-image of my face in four different (happy) expressions, united into one image held above the style boards in a horizontal row. Smiling changed the shape of my face/features (lifting and arching my eyebrows, and I have a bit of a mischievous side smile), and the expressiveness of my most... well, expressive! self was FANTASTIC for ruling out boards. Before realizing to smile, I was using a stone-faced photo like something out of a passport -- and I think that somehow made me seem blendable with too many boards, resulting in a lot of false positives that crowded out the positives associated with my most expressive, personalized features. So I highly recommend you look into your camera with the most honest, HAPPY expression you have! Maybe a few happy expressions, ranging from relatively calm and happy to joyful happy (just remember to keep your face level and straight in the photo frame). The quirkier the happy expression the better, I bet (so long as it's an expression others ACTUAL see you in regularly). Ruling out boards is so helpful! In retrospect, my best board was, on its own, rated highly every single time I ran through the calculator -- but before I used expressively happy photos of myself, I was crowding out that result with too many false positives that suited my (unnaturally) sombre lines. (I'm more symmetrical when serious: unless fully grinning, I have a casual sideways smile, and one eyebrow tends to lift. So 'Classic' was artificially dominant in serious-faced photos, but easily snipped away in my more organically expressive photos.) I was able to find my way to a second-best result with the inferior photos (the Easygoing Art Critic), but until I rated boards against my smiling face, the 50-50 Ethereal Natural split didn't even raise its head as a possibility. (Ethereal would show up on the outskirts as a fourth 25% sometimes -- but it didn't take dominance until my natural expressiveness entered the picture.)

Anyhow. All this just to say: This is a fun process! Thanks Rachel! And ladies out there: Definitely try out the Style ID Calculator tool, and be patient with it. If analyzing yourself especially, you may need several run-throughs (on different days) to develop more objectivity about your own features, and work past wishful thinking about the impression you wish you gave (or the word associatio

... (or the word associations you DON'T want, like 'masculine'!). It took me a while to finally get comfortable enough with the process, and the realities of my own face, to scroll past a board and say "not yang enough."

Anyhow! Maybe I'm not yet 'done' (if I ever get analyzed directly by Rachel for example, maybe she'll be able to explain to me what to do or think about all those "adorable" comments and how to honour that in my style). But for now, I think I'm at least making progress! And I hope you ladies have fun with your own processes, too.

I got a mix of 30% Classic, 30% Romantic and 30% Ethereal.

I can't find any information about how to combine all three of them. There are of most other triple essences, as well as for ethereal/classic, ethereal/romantic and romantic/classic.

Will you make any guides/inspiration boards for my essence mix? I mean, I can't be the only one with it, can I?
