Game of Thrones! I'm a huge fan of the George R.R. Martin book series and I can't stay away from the TV show either. So, Emilia Clarke. You've been wondering too, right? I love Daenerys. But that white-blonde Targaryen hair is so not her. Her coloring's not delicate like that. It makes her seem ghostly. So probably no Light Spring or Light Summer here. The natural brown's so much better, isn't it? Just look at this. So real. So beautiful. The black blazer isn't quite the thing, though. Much darker than she is. Ixnay on any palette that contains black. (That's all three Winters, Dark Autumn and Bright Spring.) Just to belabor the point: NOT a Winter. My very first thought about her was Soft Summer. My first thought is often wrong, but in this case I think it may have been correct. These Summery colors are not at all bad, but don't they need to be just a little deeper and warmer? Emilia's skin is a tad richer than these hues. This is fantastic. Is that one of Soft Summer's teals? It looks like it could be. True and beautiful. These look like Soft Summer colors to me.
Soft Summers, what do you think? Is Daenerys Targaryen one of you? Try figuring out your own true colors at home.

Hi Rachel, Amelia Clarke and I have the same colouring, eyes ,hair and skin. In the picture of her wearing the blue blazer (above) you can see roots of her real hair colour also at the temple. It looks like more ashy brown , than warmer.

Oh, please do question my judgment! I like to figure out what's true, and if I'm getting it wrong I hope someone will help me see it. :-)

Agreed! 100% Soft Summer! You can just tell that softness is more important than anything else with her, with coolness a very close second. Thanks for posting that, it's nice to see more Soft Summers added to the ranks :-)

Really? soft summer? I thought she was a bright spring! It must be a side effect of seeing her without the wig, then.

I would say Maisie Williams is actually a Soft Gamine. She's included in this list because when she was younger should could pull off a boyish look. https://www.truth-is-beauty.com/blog/am-i-gamine-or-ingenue

I have to admit my guesses about Lena are show related, which could be a bit tricky (make up, wig, professional photographers...). I thought she could be a dark autumn because of her red dresses. They have given her a new red dress each season, each darker than the other. I think the last two look better than the first:

Why do you have ruled out Winter so quick? There are Winters that aren´t good at black clothes, but they are good at black eyeliner, and Emilia is. She has a skin that contrasts a lot with her natural dark hair, and I see she is definitely cool. I see her as a Winter and I can´t see the softness you have atributed to her!

It's possible that I'm wrong about Soft Summer, of course. But I do think it's safe to rule out Winter if black isn't flattering. Black is in all Winter palettes, and on all Winters black should look balanced, not overwhelming, as it looks here.

Oh my god! It is soo hard to tell the season when not being a professional. I have very similar colourings as she has (only difference is my skin nad hair is warmer and my eyes are more blue). I thought I was a clear spring according to online self tests. But if she is a soft season I do not know anymore :P The more I learn about season colourings the less I seem to understand. I Have to keep reading and learning. Thank you for your post! :)

The purple dress, I feel that the colors are TOO muted.

If you look at the colours Emilia wears in the show, she looks amazing in blue, greeny blue, silver, lilac and good in earth tones. They never put her in red, even though that would be an obvious dragon colour. They have put her in quite a soft black. I think she is some kind of summer.

In "Me Before You" she wears many bright colours and looks fantastic.Too mute seems no too good for her. Do you think she could be Soft Gamine?

I also thought I saw Gamine, although when I typed her using Rachel's system, I got Ethereal Classic Ingenue.

Hmm, it's intriguing how much the captions under the pics affect our judgement... Because if I ignore them, in all truth, I cannot agree for example that she'd look "ghostly" in white-blond hair, she just looks delicate, and IMO she's great and full of vitality in Winter makeup & black - nothing there screams "NOT a Winter" to me... Plus that teal could just as well be a Winter teal, to me. ;) So I'm afraid I'm not that convinced she's a SSu...

Since we're on GOT, what do you all think about Richard Madden who played Robb Stark? I just watched him in Bodyguard and I was getting some serious SSu vibes from how great he looked in navy and charcoal (like my SSu fiancé). I've seen him in tuxes and black and white seem to be a bit too much, so I'm not feeling winter. I've also seen him in white shirts and light suits and they look too washed out next to him, so I'm guessing not a Spring. He could be an autumn of some sort, but when I look at him in browns they look sort of harmonious but a bit...underwhelming. Nothing pops like when he wears dark blue or grey. It made me think autumn blend, but not a full autumn. He also seems to have that light, pinky skin common for Scots (like my dad's family). Do you think he could be a SSu (or some sort of summer or autumn)?

And I agree with you about the ID, that’s probably a Kibbe classification- I think saw that on Pinterest or something. I can definitely see Natural- I think the Dramatic may have been wrongly assigned because of her stronger coloring. Though I can see why someone might think Dramatic, I wouldn’t say it’s predominant- I think she just has a alot of Natural like you said. I can’t really pin down her other essences though..

Hi JN- I don’t think there’s a cloud like that just yet, but I saw somewhere that True Spring Cameron Diaz is a Dramatic Natural (though she may have additional essences). You may find some pallete/colorscheme inspiration there!

Nicole :) Cameron Diaz is a Light Spring and I don't think she has dramatic. It's Kibbe's classification, not very accurate. She has a lot of natural.

Hmm.. I’m a Soft Spring and I’ve definitely seen Diaz suit warm Clear colors. I remember seeing Alicia Keys glowing in Light Spring Yellow and LS Green. I saw Diaz look okay in the same shades. But then seeing Diaz glowing in clear coral and clear TS brown (plus, her makeup here: tinyurl.com/y73nv4ch) is what helped me realize my skintone was more Clear than Light... But True and Light Spring are certainly very close.

Nicole, but Cameron wears grey jacket in your link :) TSp doesn't look good in grey, it gives nothing TSp, but exists on LSp palette. The link to the blog you posted has been added here before, I can't say I agree with 16 seasons type. Thanks anyway :) I will search Cameron in that coral and brown. Okay, so you've got me curious.

I agree that the gray in that photo is not good- that is why I said “her makeup” in the photo I linked. While some grays are bad, a dove gray is actually a rather good color for True Springs. That is on both the blog I’ve linked before and on Truth is Beauty, amoung many other websites. See true spring Blake Lively in the photo here: https://www.truth-is-beauty.com/true-spring.html

I missed "TSP - Dramatic Natural" when I was writing this, make up words cloud for these 3 blended seems to be complicated. I wonder how did you Rachel dealt with this :D

I agree about Emilia Clarke being Soft Summer. I also think she often gets put in Winter colors that do mot work for her. In Me Before You they looked deliberately clownish (appropriate to the character hiding herself in garish clothes as discussed in the book). In the Solo movie it was really obvious that black does not work for her. Even more obvious was that Gamine as a style identity is far too childlike for her. I see ethereal and some other, more concrete style elements. Could be romantic.

My guess would be soft autumn. The hazel brown in her eyes and the red highlites in her hair look to me that they're too warm for a summer. I could be wrong of course. I'm not an expert like Rachel.

I have an interesting question for you. I want to cosplay Daenarys for Comic Con and still look good. As a summer, the navy blue dress she wears suits me -- but is there any way to get a light-colored wig that won't totally wash me out? If I go with more of a gray-light blond instead of a white-blond, would that work?

I really feel she might be a spring. There appears to be a sunburst around her pupil. Maybe a caygill vital or blue spring which is why she can wear blue so well which might add to the confusion of soft summer. But I see soft summer as being more velvety soft purple as opposed to blue. I can’t tell if she’s sg or romantic. I do not think Maisie Williams is romantic, I see her as flambouyant.

Yees, I was considering she as a soft summer for a while, and then with these examples it fell into place. I was very sure that she is nota warm type (neither spring or autumn), and winter colors are too hars on her even with a lot of make up and darker hair and eyebrow. I was hesitating between cool and soft summer, but the fact that soft summer seemed to be the truth beside that I also found her more balanced in soft summer colors was that we learnt on the course (colour consultant course) that there is a tendency that soft summer celebrities always seem "too much" on red carpet, somehow the stylists try to emphasise them too much, may be because they feel that their own colors are not enough striking.

I read that Kibbe said Emilia Clarke is Romantic and Maisie Williams is Soft Gamine. Not sure about Sophie. I can see Emilia as Soft Summer or possibly Cool Summer. Pretty sure Lena Headey is a Winter, because she looks great in black when she's wearing her natural hair. And she seems pretty Cool to me.

I believe Emilia Clarke is warm autumn, she can manage warm softness and also rich combination of autumn blue with golden, and she is sexy covered with dirt, who can manage that better than true autumn, and just look at her eyes, they are rich and warm like jewels, and about Sophie I believe she is bright winter because this season can bring about amazing combinations, not something you could always expect. This season is not dogmatic so you can see this magical combo of ice blue eyes and light skin and a touch of fire in her hair like an ice in the ray of sun. Bright winter is an unusual combo of cold and warm brilliant colors, and blond people can be born as winters as well, and gingers too. The eyes and the skin are more important than hair color.
