When we first met, about 11 years ago, my husband and I worked as house painters. This was mostly in the San Francisco Bay area, right around the time when it was becoming stylish to do every room of one's house in a different color. That was fun - doing a whole wall of a client's home in tangerine orange or scarlet red, standing back and noticing how the surrounding color changed my mood and even the way my body felt.

I miss painting sometimes, especially cutting in around the edges of a wall. It's meditative. And trim - - I love painting trim. Carefully pushing the thick glossy paint from one end to the other, going slow enough to make it nice and smooth, fast enough to get it on wet.

We always used Benjamin Moore paint. It's more expensive than some other brands, but it's so worth it. It covers better than other brands, so you use fewer coats. And they have more than 3000 colors.

Obsessive person that I am, of course I've matched the individual seasonal colors to Benjamin Moore paint colors. What a project that was. Over 700 colors,  working to get each match as perfect as possible... It took more than a year. It was great fun, though. Like painting, meditative. Staring at color just does something to one's heart.

Have you thought about painting your home in your seasonal colors? Or your spouse's colors, or your kids' colors? For a dollar a color, you can order a list of Benjamin Moore shades I've precisely matched to your seasonal palette. I'll include a large sheet of each color for free.  They're the XXL version of the small chips which you get from any BM supplier.
